Your First Visit: What You Need to Know

We hope that you find each experience at our office to be a pleasant one. This page will help you understand what you can expect during your first appointment.

We will do everything we can to ensure that your visit is as thorough and efficient as possible, and are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Check In: Each time you visit our office, you will electronically check in at the front desk. You will then be directed either to the reception area or a treatment room.

New Patient Paperwork: On your first visit we will ask you to fill out some paperwork. For your convenience you can print the forms from our website, or you can plan to come in 20 minutes early and fill them out in our office. If you have any questions about any of the forms, please feel free to ask. If you have insurance we will make a copy of your card at that time.

Patient History: You will be taken into an exam room and one of our staff members will ask you a few questions about your current health conditin and explain to you what the doctor's exam will consist of.

Examination: Dr. Burns will also take a moment to discuss any health issues and/or concerns. Next, a thorough examination will be performed, which includes:

Range of motion test, flexability test, leg length check, and palpation.

X-Rays: If Dr. Burns feels that it is necessary, safe, low-dose X-rays will be taken by one of our experienced staff members.

Therapy: For acute patients, Dr. Burns may recommend a few minutes of muscle stimulation therapy. This will help to loosen the muscles of the affected area and reduce spasms.

Checkout: Cash fees, Co-pays, and/or uninsured portions of your care are due at the time of service. Your next appointment will be scheduled on your way out, so that Dr. Burns will have a chance to go over your X-Rays with you and make recommendations. You will also receive some educational information to take home.
